Assignments

1. Introduce yourself. Write a paragraph telling who you are, what your major is (maybe your plans for a degree?), and what and where your hometown is. Then tell us a little about how you feel about Lubbock - do you need anything here? (maybe we can help you!)...Your paragraph should be about 6-8 sentences. When you are done, go to Course Tools, Wiki, Introductions (002), and put it right on there. Make sure your name is included. Don't worry about grammar - we all can see it, but everyone has issues, and we will as a community work on these things.

2. Write a Teaching Philosophy. Put it on both the wiki (in our Blackboard) and in the teacher's e-mail. Follow the instructions in the Blackboard.

3. Make comments on other people's Teaching Philosophies. You have been given two from your class and two from the other class. Do your best to say something useful. You can also say something nice, of course, but useful is most important.

4. Read the comments that others have made; revise your Teaching Philosophy, and send it to me in an e-mail.

5. Make a summary-reference of an article related to our topic. Put it on the wiki.  The summary should be about 6-8 sentences. The reference should include author's name, pub. date, title, journal or publication, retrieved phrase, URL.

6. Make two more summaries of articles related to the topic. Put these on the wiki as well.

7. Write an essay about the topic your class has chosen. Use the advice about essay format to follow as closely as possible general conventions of essay writing.

8. I + LR + H + B - Introduction, Lit Review, Hypothesis, & Bibliography. This won't appear on the blog until the research paper is finished, nor will it appear on the wiki. Design your study. Tell what you have read (at least 12 articles). Tell what you think TTU students will say. Put your bibliography in APA format. Put it in the e-mail.

9. Essay pushing the university community. You may push the administration, the faculty or the students. You may have any issue that you want - try to get us to change. Provoke us. Follow standard essay conventions.

10. Survey agreement: Take your 13 surveys. Fill one out. Find 6 American males and 6 American females, and anyone else you want. Make sure people are in the Texas Tech community. Make sure they fill out both sides. Question 9 is missing a word: take "steps". They do NOT have to put their name on it. NOTE: This survey takes some time. They may not be able to do it quickly, i.e. waiting for a bus. Make sure they have time, and don't mind.
