City Essay
The city which I like is Bangalore. Bangalore is now called as ‘Bengaluru’ in “Kannada”. Bangalore is the capitol of the state of Karnataka in South India. Kannada is the language spoken in Bangalore. The location of 3000 feet above the sea level makes Bangalore quite pleasant to live in and people love this city for the climate all through the year. Kempe Gowda is one of the famous rulers of this town. The bus station and the international airport are named after this king who ruled Bangalore.
After Kempe Gowda’s rule the British people captured Bangalore when they invaded India, and was later handed over to the king of Mysore. The majority of the people living in Bangalore follow Hinduism. There are also people following other religions like Christianity, Islam, Jainism and so on. The major languages spoken in Bangalore are Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Tulu.
Bangalore is called the Silicon Valley of India. Many companies of Information and Technology like Texas Instruments, International Business Machine, Infosys, Accenture are in Bangalore. “Manyatha Tech Park” is one such place to name. Visvesvaraya Technological University is the state university in the state of Karnataka and is renowned for the quality of education this university provides to students. Bangalore University, Indian Institute of Science, Indian Institute of Management and National Law School of India are few educational institutions in Bangalore.
There are lot of attractions in Bangalore. Lal Bagh and Cubbon Park are two main botanical gardens. The rose gardens in these parks are very famous. Bangalore Fort, Vidhana Soudha, and Bangalore Palace are important buildings in Bangalore. The State Legislative Assembly takes place in Vidhana Soudha. Bannerghatta Zoo, Wonder La and Lumbini Gardens are other attractions.
Bangalorians are fond of eating good food. The majority of the restaurants are vegetarian in nature of serving food. Bangalore is one city that serves clean and well prepared food. “Masala Dosa” a dish made out of rice, lentils and potato curry, is a famous dish that is loved by any Bangalorian. There are other food items like Rava Idly, Set Dosa, Kadubu, and Poories that are popular. Maiyas is the very popular place to hang out with family.
Bangalore is famous for silk sarees. Silk sarees are long six yards of cloth piece, worn by women as a dress. Silk sarees are very popular in Indian weddings. Malleswaram  and Jaynagar are two locals popular for shopping. Mysore, which is close to Bangalore, manufactures most of these “Mysore Silk Sarees”. The people of Bangalore are very friendly in nature. Bangalorians are very traditional and prefer to converse in their language ‘Kannada’. Local people in Bangalore are a little hesitant to converse in English and do not prefer it. The above mentioned attractions  of Bangalore made me love this place. Anybody who visits Bangalore once would love to visit again and again for the attractions cited above. SA
